Frequently Asked Questions for band members

The MJCB Board of Directors is committed to protecting our music library. Below is the Music Policy that all musicians must follow as part of their membership.

All music is the property of the MJCB and must be returned after use by the band. Typically, music is returned following major concerts in the Spring and Fall; however, it may be retained if the conductors are still using the pieces. For example, after the December concert, a piece may continue to be used in the following year. 

• Please maintain your music in good condition, especially regarding any annotations. Some players find it helpful to make small performance notes on their music. The following guidelines should be followed: 
  • Notations must be made lightly in pencil or using sticky notes.** DO NOT USE HIGHLIGHTER OR PEN.**
  • Excessive notations should be erased.
  • Notations must not obscure notes.
• If the music selection is from another organization, all notations must be erased to ensure it is in proper condition for return to the original owner.
• As more pieces are purchased as digital copies, members are encouraged to tape the sheets together for ease of playing and to ensure the sheets remain as one piece when returned to the library. 
• If you decide not to continue playing with the MJCB for any length of time, please return your music. Make arrangements to return your music to the Music Librarian.

Moose Jaw Community Bands Inc. offers two different ensembles. Both bands will start up  on September 10th, 2026.

PRE-REGISTRATION IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED AS WE WILL BE REGISTERING EVERYONE AT THE START OF THE FIRST REHEARSAL.

Rehearsals: Thursdays 6:00-7:00 p.m. - Beginner Band

                      Thursdays 7:30-9:00 p.m. - Concert Band

Moose Jaw Community Bands Inc. offers two different ensembles, and separate rehearsal times.

Registration is at our first rehearsal September 10, 2026  for the 2026-2027 season. 

Registration for Beginner Band will start at 5:45pm.

Registration for Concert Band will start at 7 p.m.

All Moose Jaw Community Bands rehearsals are during available school times only. Our bands will not rehearse during Christmas/Winter break, Spring break or the Summer holiday session.  Watch for updates to our calendar for events and rehearsals.

All band members are expected to wear the standard all-black attire including socks and shoes, with out any white.
